Bureau County Mounted Search and Rescue
General Meeting Minutes
October 22, 2006
Called to order by Larry Dalton
Attendance: 12
- John has informed us that the Walmart Grant looks good. Paying for the
shirts and patches are a priority. Other items that could be included are
20 good rechargeable flashlights, a litter or stretcher.
- The practice callout went good. Things to consider include:
-do not move patient
-stick to areas given
-team names would be helpful
-use of call signs (10-9, 10-12...) on radios
-if staging area moves, a message should be left with directions.
- Cambridge training was good. Each group had a mentor. Larry asked the
instructor how to do a cornfield search. -> Do it like a normal search except
set critical separation between rows. Do field crossways. Have someone on
parameter.
- Cambridge compass class was not as good as expected. We should have a
better class.

to make the cards. We will wait until he is set up to make the cards.
- Most of the shirts have been ordered. There are still a couple that need
to be ordered.
New Business
- Gary McGee has offered us the use of his place for next meeting. It has a
building with heat and a place to ride.
- There will be a First Responder's course offered in January or February.
We will find out the cost and the time.
- At the end of the year, we will go through the list of members and weed
out those who have not attended meetings or shown any other interest. We will
also review the by-laws to ensure that we do not need to revise them.
- Nancy Williams will organize a holiday party for the group. Julie Strader
will help.
Meeting adjourned -- Linda Strader motioned / Larry Allen 2nd.
