Bureau County Mounted Search and Rescue
General Meeting Minutes
Aug 12th, 2006
Called to order at 1:00pm by Larry Dalton
Attendance: 17
- Larry opened meeting by reading last month's minutes. Motion to accept:
Larry Allen. Second: Shari Langin
- About half the shirts were delivered. We found that most were a size too
small. After exchanging amongst ourselves, 8 people were able to take home
shirts. The shirts cost $47 each. Please pay Larry.
- Larry brought his digital camera and got ID pictures of those in
attendance. Dorene will lay out the cards and print them. Larry will then have
them laminated. If you need an ID card, please let Larry or Dorene know.
- We reviewed a list of needed equipment. Nancy Williams will make a poster
to display at the fair.
- Larry has contacted Wal-mart and the Princeton Rotary for a donation. The
Rotary has requested a presentation the first week of September. Roger Ault
will give the presentation. Larry Dalton and Dorene will also attend.
- Local businesses can be contacted for donations. When considering
requesting donations from a business, please check with Larry Dalton before
approaching the business to ensure that the business has not already been
contacted. Motion: Adam Strader Second: Dorene Stalter
- When we are ready to request grants, Roger Ault suggested contacting Tri
County.
- Cambridge SAR training is scheduled for Sept 23 and 24th. If you attended
the last Cambridge SAR training, you should consider going again. There is so
much to learn and the hands on training is invaluable. If you have NOT
attended the training yet, it is highly recommended that you attend in order
to become certified. Dorene will ensure that there are forms available at the
booth at the fair. There is also a link to the forms on our website under
"Events".
- Dale Smith was not available to give the compass reading class. He will
give it at the next available opportunity.
- The patches. Dorene was notified by the company that the manufacturer of
the patches made a printing error. We used the same manufacturer as the county
sheriff's department. The patches are very similar. At the bottom of the patch
should be the words "Search and Rescue". The manufacturer used the words from
the bottom of the sheriff's patches (Honesty - Integrity - Trust). The company
could not guarantee that the corrected patches would be here before next week
so Dorene requested that they send her the rejects (for free). We can use
these until the right patches arrive. They can be tacked on to the uniform and
should hold up as long as we are not in a search environment.
Officer/Committee Reports

the website.
Commander's Report
Uniforms are in. The sizing on the shirts are running small. Those who could
find a shirt to fit, now have the shirts. More shirts should be in soon. Due to
the cost, we will not be ordering pants. Please find a pair of dark brown pants
to wear with the shirt.
Secretary/ Treasurer Report
There have been no deposits and no checks written. Checking account balance is
$630 Motion to accept: Larry Allen Second: Shari Langin
See Larry or Dorene for ID cards. In order to be able to NOT display "date of
birth" on the ID cards, we need to issue an ID number for each member and
include this number on the card. Dorene will update the database and issue each
member an ID number. This number will then be placed on the cards instead of the
DOB.
