BCMSAR Meeting of 4/24/08 (minutes by Pat Theodore)
Pres. Larry Dalton called to order 7:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Princeton.
A sign in sheet was passed around plus a count was needed of the members who owned ATV’s.
Pres Larry discussed points the Secretary’s Review of the last meeting.
1 – Incident Command Training
2 – ID machine wasn’t working, no one has checked recently so Pres.
Larry stated he would do. A hand count was called for as to who needed ID’s – only those certified qualify.
3 – A catalogue was passed around for shirt orders
4 – Updates needed on any medical training (Char & Julie)
Treasurers Report
Balance $1,394.94 – a deposit from this meeting is to be made yet.
A motion was made and seconded to accepted the Secretary’s Review and Treasurers Report. Passed.
Dale made a motion to reimburse Pres. Larry for the funds (approx $00 - $450) he has been out of for over a year now – Seconded by Dorene. Passed.
Dorene gave out notes to review in preparation for SAR training May 3&4. Pres Larry stated a Port-a-Potty shall be rented. 18 are registered so far, some from the Chicago area.
Saturday – 8:00 a.m. classroom at BC Courthouse
Sunday – 8:00 a.m. meet at BC Courthouse and follow to the site with horses.
No other info was provided. Pres. Larry stated GPS and map coordinates would be helpful.
Adam stated contact the local farmers as they all have GPS equip. in their combines. All we know is approx 11 mi south of Tiskilwa – off of Yankee Lane.
Pres Larry said he would like to test out the radios we have.
Be prepared for any kind of weather – bring your own food, drinks as well for your horse. Orange vest, rain gear, change of boots, sox, etc.
Deb Evelhock stated that Bonnie of Friends of Strays has a bloodhound for tracking purposes if we need and would like to join. Discussion. Maybe on down the road was decided.
Dorene asked if anyone who attended the Search Managers Class had received their certificates. No one had. She asked if she should bring certificates to this training for those who complete. Discussion. Decided to wait to see if Anthony brings, if not, then they will be provided at the next meeting.
Pres Larry discussed fund raisers –
(a) Torri’s, Rips, Pizza Hut – food prepared at a discount
(b) Rifle raffle
(c) Draw down
(d) Cassino Bingo
(e) Spaghetti dinner or a breakfast
Adam stated they have a new church with facilities – he will check the availability.
A question was posed as to how much money was needed and for what.
Answer was: radio holders, flashlight holders, night vision goggles and utility belts
Bowman – asked if anyone had the radio frequency we use. Pres Larry to check
Dorene – Tracking class info – cost $200 - $250 – see her for further details
Adam – we need to get known – people do not know we exist. Contact all of the small towns, their Fire Depts. and Police Depts.. Discussion followed – no decision.
