Bureau County Mounted Search and Rescue
Fellow BCMSAR members,

First let me thank everybody who pitched in at the fair. The booth
looked great and I had a lot of favorable comments on it and the
team. Thanks to those who worked behind the scenes, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

Second, what a great showing at the Homestead Parade. Thanks for all
your hard work, dedication and expense. But then again gas is only $2.50
a gallon now right)). The uniforms looked sharp and you conducted
yourselves in a very professional manner. Stand tall Pard's.I heard many
positive comments and even clapping as we passed by.

I had several people yell out-"Hey Dan, I didn't know you rode!"-"Why
yessirree Bob little lady, been ridin' fer years!" (You guys made me
look good). One guy asked what kind of horse I was riding- "Brown one."

Bryan "Crap Shooter" Williams, my nominee for the Golden Biscuit
Award. This guy cannot be embarrassed. Not only did he volunteer for the
nastiest job of the day, he wore an inmate suit and smiled. Nancy, that's
love!

Thanks to all of you for putting up with all my neophyte questions-
What boots are best? What does that strap do? Why is the horse looking
at me that way? Who's Chuck, did he say we could use his wagon? Do
cowboys wear Depends, why not? Whaddaya mean relax? Does this saddle make my
butt look big? Does your pulse race too? Do I look faint? Are your hands
getting numb? When does the ringing in your ears stop?

Special thanks goes out to Larry Allen for providing his guidance and
patience and for bringing King for me to ride. Really special thanks
goes out to King for not killing me.

I had a great time and I think it was very positive exposure for the
team. I'm looking forward to doing it again. See you at the next
meeting.

Happy Trails, Deputy Dan
